About Solar
Net Metering / Grid Interconnection
Net Metering
Your organization will ALWAYS remain connected to your utility power grid for its surplus energy needs. Let’s face it, the sun does not ALWAYS shine. Because your solar installation will be engineered to maximize electricity generation without creating overcapacity you can expect to use more of OUR clean energy than the electricity from your utility. However, your utility company will ALWAYS be needed to seamlessly fill in the gaps naturally associated with a solar energy supply.
If We Produce More than You need, you win!
At any given time of the day when we produce more energy than your full needs require, the extra electricity is sent back into the utility grid, spinning your traditional utility meter backwards. Think about a storage tank which contains the yearly non-solar energy you need from your utility company. When your installation over produces you put energy back into the tank. You pay us for the energy you put into the tank and it can be taken out “For Free”, when you need it.
If We Under produce, No Problem
When we produce less energy than your full needs require, the extra energy you need will be supplied by your traditional energy utility company. Your utility meter will spin forward. Think of this as taking back some of the energy that you previously put into the electricity storage tank described above. When your tank becomes empty you will pay your utility prevailing rates.
There is Great Confidence in Remaining Connected
New Jersey is one of many states in the country which support the notion of Net Metering. Your current electric utility company is a critical component to meeting all of your electricity needs. Your installation will be considered “Behind The Meter”. We will have our own meter, independent of your utility meter, to capture the electricity we generate.
You Will Receive Monthly Bills Both from American Clean Energy
AND Your Traditional Electric Utility
