Solar Frequently Asked Questions
How will I get electricity to run my business if there are clouds?
Your utility company will always co-exist with our solar electricity so that you will never be without the electricity you need to run your business. Regulations exist which require your utility company to provide Interconnection.
What happens on a sunny weekend when I don’t consume as much electricity as you are generating for me?
The beauty of net-metering, described in the prior question is that, for whatever solar energy American Clean Energy puts back into the utility grid on your behalf, you make money because you pay the cheaper PPA rate and get credit from your utility company for the full retail price that they normally charge you.
How long do these Solar PV panels last?
Today’s solar photovoltaic technology has a manufacturer performance warranty of 25 years and they are expected to last 30-35 years with proper maintenance. Pay attention to the warranty life of the rest of your components. Many Inverters, another critical component, only have a warranty life of 5-15 years so this needs be factored into total cost of ownership before you own the solar facility or if you plan to have maintenance responsibility.
