The Main Types of Installations Are:
Parking Canopy: Fixed or Multiple AxisThe perfect way to improve your property parking lot is to add parking canopy solar. Solutions range from fixed rows to Solar Tracking Trees®. Some solutions are more elegant than others and provide many more options and features. Possible features include: shade, night lighting, day lighting, branding, colors, signage, integrated video, single/multiple columns, electric vehicle charging stations. As with all solar systems, pitch, azimuth, inverters and tracking can dramatically change solar productivity |
Fixed TiltFixed Tilt facilities are the most economic to build and maintain. They are commonly used for rooftops and canopies because they are lighter and don’t require as much maintenance. One drawback to this solution is that it doesn’t provide as much power as an installation that tracks the sun as it moves across the sky. The placement of the panels, including their angle and direction, is determined based on latitude, longitude, panel spacing and accessibility in order to maximize exposure to solar radiation. |

Single-Axis TrackerSingle-Axis Tracker facilities contain panels that are mounted to a system that allows them to move up and down or side to side (1 Axis). They are commonly used in ground facilities and sometimes rooftops or parking deck canopies. They provide much more energy than Fixed Tilt installations but have more “moving parts” and therefore are heavier, require more maintenance and are more expensive to install. |
Dual-Axis TrackerDual-Axis Tracker facilities are the most complex and the most expensive to install and maintain however, if using the same solar panel, they also produce the most energy. They are typically used in ground installations. These systems track the sun horizontally and vertically as it moves, east to west, across the sky. It requires more stability and has the most moving parts. |
